If I Cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way!

There is a huge amount of articles about how to reach our goals.  We have been told to think big and always write down those goals so we can implement certain strategies to achieve them.  At different stages of our lives, we have all read a book or heard a motivational speaker telling us about how to achieve our goals.

During this process, there has maybe been inside us a burning desire to go out there and work towards reaching those goals.  Sometimes this desire may not last and that initial motivation dies down soon thereafter.  Then another book, video or motivational speaker comes along and we repeat the process over and over again until this cycle ends up being ineffective.

Have you ever asked yourself honestly, why this cycle mostly occurs to a large number of individuals including ourselves?  How can we tell if motivation is still relevant?

Break the Cycle

The answer is rather simple, it may even surprise you and if you pay even closer attention you will start to understand that the solution is actually within our reach.  It is important that during this process we are truly honest with ourselves.

Work hard in silence

We have to live each day understanding that there is no need for us to announce what it is we are doing or focused on accomplishing.  You will be able to begin this process in the privacy of your own home.  But first, here is the cause of the problem.

The main issue begins when we stop being faithful to ourselves.  When we fail to be faithful in those simple things we have to do and stop being responsible with ourselves.  We are not referring to the responsibility we have towards other people in our lives; that would be a whole other post.

If you do enough small things right, big things can happen!

We are referring to the responsibility we have with our actions in our daily lives and how we need to understand that our actions should be aligned with whatever it is we have established.

Actions speak louder than words

In an effort to be even more specific; evaluate the following in order to find out if you are being faithful to yourself in different layers of your life.

Healthy Lifestyle
  • Are you eating right?
  • Are you taking personal hygiene seriously?
  • Are you taking care of all the aspects of your personal appearance?
  • Are you exercising daily?
  • Are you taking care of your health?
  • Are you listening to your body when it’s sending you a message?
  • Are you getting enough sleep?

  • Is your home clean and clutter-free?
  • Are you taking care of your home’s curb appeal?
  • Are you providing the necessary preventive maintenance?
  • Are you spending quality time with your family?
  • Are you being an example within your family?
  • Are you managing your finances wisely?
  • Do you have an emergency savings fund?

  • Are you arriving on time?
  • Are you managing your time at work wisely in order to avoid having to take work home?
  • Are you setting an example among your coworkers?
  • Are you being truly productive?
  • Are you always looking for ways to improve your performance?

There is an immense amount of additional things we could continue to mention.  Each list would vary by individual.  The common denominator among all these lists is that if we are able to be faithful with our responsibilities on the small things, we will be able to develop the necessary quality to reach goals at an even higher level.

Mainly because whatever it is we are working on, we are providing the 100% effort it truly deserves.  This mindset will enable us to constantly provide a 100% effort regardless of what we are faced with on our daily lives as part of our new nature.

Being faithful to yourself will enable you to enjoy the same things you are actually taking care of, such as your home, body, family, finances, work and more.  On the other side of the spectrum, when we fail to be faithful on the little things, we are blocking ourselves from moving on to bigger, better things.

In order to be successful, we have to clearly establish what challenges we are bound to encounter. Every day will bring different challenges that will hone your skills and test your limits. You have to remember to look past each Challenge focusing on the goal you desire to accomplish and ask yourself the following:

1. Are You Living In The Now?

Living in the now means that your awareness is completely centered on the here and now. You are not worrying about the future or thinking about the past. When you live in the present, you are living where life is happening. The past and future are illusions, they don’t exist.

Being fully present means having your focus, your attention, your strengths, your thoughts and feelings all fixed on the task at hand.  This will in turn garner you better results every single time.

Quick Tip: When you’re forced to be “present” in an unfamiliar setting you are in fact connecting to your authentic self to help guide you.

2. Be Aware of Your Actions Inside Your Home!

Home Sweet Home

Our homes are supposed to be considered a safe relaxing space for us to unwind in.  A space in which we may sometimes fall into the trap of commodity and routine.  We have to develop the mindfulness and awareness of objectively evaluating our actions to see if they keep in alignment with our established goals.  Be ready to Take Action when they are not aligned!

3. Are You 100% Committed To Yourself?

Taking care of yourself can leave you feeling guilty as you may think of it as selfishness.  Selfish that you aren’t spending time with your family or doing work. Keep in mind that carving out time for yourself is vital for keeping yourself healthy, and that means a happier family and more productive work and personal life if done correctly.

4. Are You Living With Integrity?

Integrity can be defined as the quality of being honest and having a strong moral principle.  The state of being whole and undivided.  To live with integrity is to live with honesty and consistency.  It also means that to be impeccably honest with others, you must first be impeccably honest with yourself. You must be true to yourself. Being true to yourself means living in truth with each person in your life.

Hard work ahead

Now, going back to our goals; once you are trained to understand the importance of being faithful in the little things, it will be hard for you to lose motivation when you have to deal with working on bigger, tougher things in your life.  You will take on every task head-on, firmly and continue to develop as a leader who is clear on what it is you desire.

You will then, never again be like a boat adrift dependent on the motions of the wrong winds or sea.  Your life and actions will speak for you.  You will be able to identify in a timely manner any necessary adjustments required to overcome any obstacles you may face.

Above all, you will reap the benefits of being responsible in every aspect of your life.  Procrastination will never again be present in your life since you will break the tendencies of leaving things for the last minute.  You will be able to rest since you will take your resting time seriously.

Your health and well-being will improve.  Your personal relationships will improve.  It will be blissful to arrive at a clean and organized home.  Stress levels will be drastically reduced, and might even positively work on relieving insomnia because you will be able to go to bed on a clear mind.

The most amazing part in all of this is that the every day effort required to maintain your life running smoothly will be less since you are building habits that can help you move on to achieve greater things at a steady pace.

Regardless of what stage you find yourself in within this content, it is crucial that you are aware of the importance of making an effort in every single action you take.   Value the time you invest in what may currently appear to be small things.

Small Big Things

The solution remains simple; If you are able to be responsible in the little things you will be capable of being responsible in the bigger things life may bring your way.  Your level of motivation will not depend on the circumstances surrounding you, but on the mindset that you are fully capable of moving on to higher goals.

Time will pass regardless

This way bigger goals will become easier to achieve.  So remember to never stop looking for ways to grow and improve.  Remember to always Challenge Yourself To Be Better… To Do More… To Live For Growth!
